Butte 100 Mountain Bike Race

The Butte 100 Mountain Bike Race is an annual endurance mountain biking event held just outside of Butte, Montana, along the Continental Divide. The race weekend includes three distances, a 100-mile, 50-mile, and 25-mile course, drawing riders from across the region to experience high-elevation terrain and expansive views.

We partnered with the Butte 100 to capture commercial event photography that reflects both the intensity of the race and the unique landscape it takes place in.

Project Focus

The Butte 100 needed photography to support promotion of future race events.

The focus was on capturing a combination of action, scenery, and key moments throughout the race. The imagery needed to reflect the challenge and energy of endurance riding while also showcasing the setting along the Continental Divide, helping communicate both the experience and appeal of the event to prospective participants.

Our Approach

We planned and executed event photography during race day, positioning strategically along the course to capture a range of moments from active riding to start and finish line interactions.

The approach prioritized:

  • Action-focused imagery capturing riders in motion across varied terrain
  • Environmental context that highlights the scale and scenery of the Continental Divide
  • Candid moments that reflect the energy, effort, and personality of participants
  • Key moments at the start and finish line to document the full race experience
  • Coverage that provides a mix of promotional and storytelling imagery for future use

Final images were professionally edited and delivered for use across event marketing and promotional materials.

Outcome

The final photography provides the Butte 100 with a cohesive set of images that supports promotion of future race events. By combining action, environment, and participant-focused moments, the imagery helps communicate the experience of the race and attract riders looking for a challenging and scenic endurance event.
