Western Apicultural Society

The Western Apicultural Society (WAS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing beekeeping education and supporting beekeepers throughout the western United States. Through educational resources, expert-led programming, and member opportunities, WAS connects a broad community of hobbyist and professional beekeepers.

Project Focus

The Western Apicultural Society needed a modern membership website that could serve as a central hub for its growing community while making it easier to manage memberships, educational programming, and organizational communications.

WAS also needed a more cohesive approach to email and social media communications to promote educational opportunities, strengthen member value, and support continued membership growth.

Our Solution

We partnered with the Western Apicultural Society to create a more connected digital presence built around education, membership, and long-term organizational growth.

We redesigned the Western Apicultural Society’s website to create a clearer, more engaging member experience and better support its growing library of educational resources and programs.

Key improvements included:

  • Streamlined membership registration and online payments
  • Members-only content and educational resources
  • Improved event and program promotion
  • Clearer navigation and content organization
  • Scalable website structure to support future growth

We developed an email communications framework to keep members informed and demonstrate the ongoing value of WAS membership.

Support includes:

  • Member-focused newsletters
  • Educational program and Mini-Conference promotions
  • Event announcements and organizational updates
  • Consistent visual presentation across communications

We manage ongoing social media communications for WAS to keep the organization connected with beekeepers year-round. Content promotes upcoming Mini-Conferences, highlights educational resources, and reinforces the value of membership. This helps accomplish WAS’s goal of growing an audience and build long-term support for the organization.

  • Social media strategy and planning
  • Custom graphic design
  • Content scheduling and publishing
  • Ongoing campaign coordination

Outcome

The new website gives the Western Apicultural Society a centralized platform for managing memberships, sharing educational resources, and promoting programs to beekeepers across the western United States.

Alongside the website project, ongoing digital communications have helped significantly expand WAS’s online audience. Facebook followers grew from approximately 4,800 in October 2025 to more than 8,000 by August 2026. An increase of more than 67% in less than a year.

Digital Spark Creative continues to support WAS as an ongoing creative and communications partner across website management, email marketing, and social media.

Client Testimonial

There isn’t enough room to express our gratitude for Valerie and the great work she did to help us develop our new website! This project reimagined who we are in the world of beekeeping. She did it! She helped us create the vision, stay disciplined and on task, raise our thinking beyond where we were, and create something that, in the end, was exactly what we wanted. We trusted her. she became like family. Thank you, Valerie! Keep up the good work!
