Southwest Montana

Southwest Montana is a regional tourism organization promoting travel, recreation, and historic destinations throughout the area. Known for its trout fishing, scenic landscapes, and rich history, the region sits between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park, attracting visitors exploring Montana’s outdoor and cultural experiences.

We partnered with Southwest Montana to capture commercial photography highlighting two of the region’s historic destinations: Virginia City and Nevada City.

Project Focus

Southwest Montana needed photography that would help promote Virginia City and Nevada City as engaging, family-friendly destinations.

The focus was on capturing people actively experiencing the locations, rather than documenting empty spaces. The imagery needed to reflect a sense of activity, accessibility, and historical interest while appealing to a broad range of visitors, including families, couples, and travelers exploring the region.

Our Approach

We planned and executed a photography session across both Virginia City and Nevada City, focusing on capturing authentic visitor experiences within historically significant settings.

The approach prioritized:

  • Lifestyle imagery featuring visitors engaging with attractions, including tours, exhibits, and outdoor spaces
  • Environmental context that highlights the character and preservation of historic buildings and sites
  • A mix of candid and lightly directed moments to create natural, approachable imagery
  • Representation of a range of visitors to reflect the diversity of potential travelers
  • Coordination of model releases to support marketing use across tourism channels

Final images were professionally edited and delivered for use across regional marketing and promotional materials.

The final photography provides Southwest Montana with a cohesive set of images that supports how Virginia City and Nevada City are promoted across tourism channels. By focusing on people interacting with the environment, the imagery helps communicate these locations as active, engaging destinations, encouraging visitation and supporting regional tourism efforts.
